Sr. Project Engineer
Job Summary:
The Senior Project Engineer has the overall scope ownership responsibility for assigned plant construction project scope; develop and freeze assigned project scope and coordinate execution as single Point of Contact with all project functions and stakeholders following Richmond Project Governance. Lead process towards scope definition and support awarding: Full Scope of Work creation covering all aspects (HSE, Construction, PMO, ENG, etc.), definition of technical vendor selection criteria, technical bid evaluation, and support Richmond Project Procurement in bidding process, and vendor evaluation & selection. Furthermore, supporting the Aurubis engineering team on various aspects such as supporting (or leading) design reviews, technical evaluation of Project Change Directives, SOW creation, technical bid evaluation, and taking care of specific engineering queries.
Responsibilities:
- Overall scope ownership responsibility for assigned project scope; develop and freeze assigned project scope and coordinate execution as single Point of Contact with all project functions and stakeholders following Richmond Project Governance
- Lead process towards scope definition and support awarding: Full Scope of Work creation covering all aspects (HSE, Construction, PMO, ENG, etc.), definition of technical vendor selection criteria, technical bid evaluation, and support Richmond Project Procurement in bidding process, and vendor evaluation & selection.
- Support construction, ensuring that all design requirements are met and that the design is practical and cost-effective
- Support the Engineering Team with discipline expertise and specific design/review tasks
- Responsible for coordination between Aurubis engineering team (especially Design Manager), engineering firms, the project team and contractors to ensure that drawings packages are delivered to the field in time to meet the schedule
- Collaborate with contractors and other stakeholders to ensure that the design meets all regulatory and safety requirements and is delivered on time and within budget
- Provide technical advice and guidance to the design team as required
- Support managing the resolution of any design-related issues that arise during the project, including changes to the design, scope, or budget
- Single Point of Contact for Procurement for assigned scope
- Support engineering/design Interface Management, ensuring that the various battery limits of units and design packages fully cover scope and no gaps in Construction and Commx occur.
- Assigned Scope Owner per Aurubis area and package definitions
Your Profile
Experience:
- 10+ years of industrial/manufacturing plant construction experience
- Experience managing teams and coordinating with other engineering disciplines
- Experience managing external engineering consultants.
- Experience with major mech. equipment included in smelting process preferred

- Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to manage and motivate teams effectively
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively with a wide and complex range of stakeholders
- Ability to perform in a cross-cultural setting
- Strong project management skills.
- Highly organized with strong attention to details and technicalities
- Strong critical and analytical thinking and quantitative skills
- Comfort with fast-paced, quickly changing environment.
Skills & Knowledge:
- Bachelor or Master in Mechanical, Civil, Chemical or Electrical Engineering or related field
- Master’s degree preferred
- Strong knowledge of engineering design and construction practices and standards
- Familiarity with relevant regulations and standards
- Professional Engineering (PE) license, or other similar credential (CESCP, CPSE) is preferred
